Ingredients:

  • 125g/4oz plain flour
  • 125g/4oz  sugar
  • 175g/6oz porridge oats
  • 125g/4oz butter
  • Cooking apples
  • Dried cherries
  • Mixed dried fruit
  • Cinnamon
  • Icing sugar
  • Crushed walnuts

Method:

  1. Pre-heat oven to 180 degrees (c), gas mark 4, 350 degrees (f).
  2. Put your flour & butter into a bowl, rub together until it resembles breadcrumbs.IMG_20181202_135248_resized_20181206_013133278
  3. Add Sugar & porridge oats & mix well.
  4. Wash, peel & slice cooking apples ( as many or as little as you would like).
  5. In a pie dish or individual dishes lay out your apple slices, dried cherries & dried mixed fruit.  Sprinkle with cinnamon & icing sugar (I find that the icing sugar helps make the fruit juices more like syrup when cooking).
  6. Top with crumble topping, sprinkle over some crushed walnuts & place in the oven for 25 minutes or until golden.
  7. Serve with custard or with brandy cream.IMG_20181202_145733_resized_20181206_013132646

Enjoy ! Have a very Merry Christmas & a healthy, happy New Year!
